Common questions
Where does my data live?
On your iPhone, and in Apple Health if you grant Health permission. Weigh has no servers, no account, and no analytics. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
How do I turn on cycle tracking?
Open Settings (gear tab) → set Gender to Female → toggle Cycle tracking on. The Cycle tab will appear in navigation.
How do I connect Apple Health?
Open Settings → Connect → tap Apple Health. iOS will ask which data types you want to share. You can change this later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Weigh.
How do I delete an entry?
Tap any day in the Calendar tab to see entries for that day, then tap the trash icon next to any entry.
Does Weigh sync between devices?
Not yet. Right now your data lives on the device you logged it on. Apple Health entries you write from Weigh will sync via iCloud Health like any other Health data.
Will Weigh ever send me notifications?
Only the daily reminder, if you enable it in Settings. Weigh doesn't send marketing or engagement nudges.
Logging meals from photos
How does meal photo logging work?
From the log sheet, switch to the Food tab and tap Take a photo. The first time you do this for a given AI provider, Weigh shows a disclosure screen listing exactly what is sent (the photo, a short instruction prompt, your API key) and what is not (your weight, name, cycle, or any other personal data). The photo only leaves your phone after you tap Allow & send. The provider returns a dish name, calorie estimate, and macro breakdown, which you can edit before saving.
What does the consent screen ask for?
It names the company that will receive the photo (Google LLC for Gemini, OpenAI L.L.C. for OpenAI, or Anthropic PBC for Claude), shows the data that will be sent, links to that company's privacy policy, and offers Allow & send or Cancel. You can revoke consent at any time in Settings → AI photo logging → Reset photo consent; the disclosure screen will appear again on the next photo.
Is photo logging required?
No. The whole feature is opt-in and only activates after you add an API key in Settings → AI. If you skip it, Weigh works as a weight + cycle tracker with no networking at all.
How do I set up an AI provider?
Open Settings → AI, pick a provider, and paste an API key. Easiest option is Google AI Studio (Gemini Flash-Lite) — there's a free tier and the key takes about a minute to generate. Keys are stored in your iPhone's Keychain and never sent anywhere except to the provider you chose.
What does the AI provider see?
Only the meal photo and a short instruction prompt. Weigh does not send your weight, name, age, cycle, or any other data alongside the request. Photos aren't stored on any server we run — Weigh has no servers — but each provider has its own retention policy. See Google AI Studio terms, OpenAI privacy, or Anthropic privacy.
How do I remove my AI key?
Open Settings → AI, tap the provider, and remove the key. The Food tab will switch back to a setup card and no further requests will be made.
Privacy
Weigh has no servers and collects no analytics. The only network traffic the app generates is meal-photo requests to the AI provider you opt into. See the privacy policy for the full statement.
